Warm and Cozy on the Inside.

Although the weather has been unusually cold it hasn't dampened our spirits. Dal and Renata's flat is warm and friendly - the Tolkienesque "Homely House". Not quite the Hobbit Hole of Mr Baggins but warm and cozy none the less. And we have Matrim to entertains us.

I'm Dreaming of a White Easter - What the ....

We woke up this morning and this was the sight that greeted us when we peeked out through the window. Yes, that's snow and it still snowing though I am writing this several hours later. The rest of the country is under a cold white blanket and the Easter Holidays are just around the corner.
This weather is predicted (by some real weather forecasters) to spoil any chance of a sunny Easter break. Hopefully it will be over by April when we head north to Yorkshire to pick up the van.

Breaking News! Brass Monkeys buy Electric Underpants

We have been here in London for 2 days now and the mercury is struggling to get into positive territory. The days are extremely cold and the nights freezing. Despite that it is warm and cozy in Dal and Renata's place. The Euro-Muzs are doing well and Matrim has discovered a new word "crash". The result of his new train set. He builds it then trashes it. Like father like son.
We will be here until Easter as we don't pick up Aurora until April. Hopefully the weather will improve. At least it is not raining.

WildAx Aurora

Here is what Aurora looks like.
Ours is the same layout inside but with gunmetal grey metallic exterior paint.

You can't see it in the video but it also comes with a full length awning and a bike rack on the back.

Welcome!

Welcome to all our family and friends.

This new blog will be our diary and general sounding board for our travels around Europe the UK and Ireland in our new motorhome appropriately named Aurora Australis. The Aurora comes from the model of the motorhome, its a WildAx Aurora Leisure - hand built in Yorkshire by WildAx Motorhomes. The Australis need no explanation.

The journey hasn't started yet as we are still four days out from leaving Oz. Another four sleepless night of tension and excitement. We will be staying with Dal and Renata for a few days before we pick up Aurora from the small canal-side town of Elland in Yorkshire. After packing, provisioning and planning we head off for the Yorkshire Dales, The Lakes District and then on to Wales.

It will be spring in the UK and given the current state of Global Warming we expect it to be bloody cold with snow on the ground in some places. We've prepared for this as we were in London last Spring and know what to expect. The trip around the UK will take around a month then its off to Europe. We hope to be at Villers-Bretonneux for Anzac Day.

We plan to head south to Paris next then across to Normandy and Brittany for a while before heading down the coast to Bordeaux and across the border into Spain. Madrid is our next major stop then over to Lisbon in Portugal. We then travel south to the Algarve and a return to one of our favourite places, Lagos. From here we travel back into Spain and our route takes us to Seville, Cadiz, Malaga and then along the east coast to Almeria, Alicante, Valencia and Barcelona.

Our route from here takes us back into France to Arles, Cannes and Grasse on the Cote d'Azur and then through the French Alps where we hope to meet up with Tony and Gaille and catch some of the Tour de France. Then it's back to the UK and a rest before we head home.

Well that's the plan, but as is usual with us it's probably going to change so stay tuned.
